The UK Government will support a selection of UK companies promoting capability innovations for defence and security at the Singapore Airshow.

It wants to nurture greater defence industrial co-operation with its friends and allies in South East Asia and will continue to encourage joint ventures and collaborative projects with Singapore and others across the region.

Technology transfer

UK companies have an excellent record of transferring technology through business development with regional manufacturers.

The UK delegation is led by Air Vice Marshal Nigel Maddox, Senior Military Adviser in the Department for International Trade’s Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO).

According to Air Vice Marshal Maddox said: “The Singapore Air Show 2020 is one of the best networking events in Asia. For many years the UK and Singapore have shared an important strategic relationship; a relationship that has grown stronger as we have collaborated to identify global threats and proposed solutions. The UK is keen to deepen its strategic relationship with Singapore and other regional partners, and to provide innovative solutions to the complex threats that we collectively face”.

Government statistics reveal that defence and security exports in 2019 were worth £19.2 billion. The UK’s DTI DSO is on stand M65.
