Airbus will highlight its wide range of defence, space, helicopter and unmanned aerial system (UAS) products and services at next week’s Asian Defense & Security (ADAS) 2018 exhibition in Manila, the Philippines. The third edition of ADAS takes place at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on 26-28th September 2018.
At the Airbus stand (#1560), one highlight will be a “smart” model of the new-generation A400M military airlifter, which allows visitors to use a HoloLens for an augmented reality demonstration of the aircraft’s capabilities. This includes its suitability for a wide range of passenger and cargo transport operations, humanitarian missions and air-to-air refuelling. There will also be a scale model of the Pleiades satellite, which offers very high resolution earth observation imagery that is used for both civil and military applications.
Touch screens will provide details on the company’s space products that are suitable for a variety of earth observation and telecommunication applications, surveillance and intelligence products for coastal and border security needs, and innovative UAS solutions. They can also get more information on Airbus’ entire range of helicopter models, including the versatile light-twin H145 and 11-tonne multirole H225, which can perform a wide range of civil, parapublic and military missions.
Today, the Philippine Air Force operates three Airbus C295 medium aircraft. These have helped to modernise its transport fleet, and undertake a variety of military and humanitarian missions. The C295 MPA is also ideal for maritime patrol operations in the region.
Airbus is also the leader in the Philippine rotorcraft market with 76 helicopters in service, ranging from the light single engine models (H125 and H135) to the light twin (H135 and H145) and the medium helicopters (H155 and Dauphin family). In 1997, the company set up a local helicopter unit to focus on sales, marketing and support services in the country.
The company is also developing its industrial partnerships with Philippine aerospace firms, which supply a wide range of equipment and system parts for Airbus commercial aircraft. Airbus-related industrial activity in the country is valued at USD 300 million per year, and supports skilled and sustainable employment for about 1,700 people.
