ORION SUMMIT 2024: Post-Event Press Release

In bringing to life our motto “Seeing Is Believing”, the 2024 edition of TRD Singapore’s annual ORION SUMMIT has successfully come to a close.

Held in Bangkok, Thailand, our Counter Drone Workshop and Live Demo effectively showcased a comprehensive spectrum of counter-drone solutions comprising nearly 30 different equipment, from Fixed Site capabilities, to networked man-portable solutions, to integrated C2 (Command & Control) abilities that enable swift and effective decision-making.

From the ever-evolving, fast-paced nature of drone developments to continuously innovated anti-drone technology such as advanced RF (Radio Frequency) decoding technology for detection, both soft-kill and hard-kill solutions from signal jamming and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) spoofing to the use of Laser in taking down all types of drones, the TRD team demonstrated all these possibilities under our ORION Anti-Drone system. We also brought to our participants the integrated Fixed Site, Man-Portable and Handheld systems that are networked together, managed via the Ops Centre System.

ORION SUMMIT started in 2023 when Sam, TRD’s Founder and CEO, saw the need to educate customers and partners on anti-drone solutions to help them better understand TRD’s systems and make informed decisions. The ORION SUMMIT showcases not only TRD’s capabilities and systems but also the latest unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and counter-UAS technology available on the market. This year, we saw a 100% increase in participants, from 50 pax in 2023 to 105 pax in 2024.

Fixed Site & Integration

TRD Singapore’s ORION Anti-Drone solutions were demonstrated across three different form factors – Fixed Site, Manpack, and Handheld. For Fixed Site applications, TRD demonstrated our ORION-D Fixed Site (aka Birthday Cake) for detection and intelligent decoding, 10-band selectable ORION-11+ jammer, and wideband selectable ORION-12 jammer. As a leading systems integrator in anti-drone solutions, TRD also showcased our integrated vehicle that is capable of addressing drone threats on-the-move.

Man-Portable

As the dangers of drones continue to advance across a complex landscape, TRD’s best-in-class man-portable systems were also demonstrated to highlight the versatility and adaptability of our solutions. Namely, invited guests were able to have a hands-on experience of our detection systems, ORION-D Manpack, ORION-D Handheld, combined with our advanced soft-kill ORION-H10 Drone Jammer Gun, ORION-SP Manpack and ORION-SP Handheld to easily understand and visualise how drones can be swiftly addressed in mobile deployments. At ORION SUMMIT 2024, man-portable networking capabilities via 4G/5G/Mesh Radio/Starlink were also demonstrated to showcase how multiple points of detection/disruption can be interconnected to ensure a cohesive and unified effort to counter drone threats.

C2

To transform cohesive efforts into a comprehensive counter-drone capability, invited guests also saw our latest C2 system in action, which integrates all sensors and data into one singular location. Our all-inclusive Ops Centre System integrates all sub-systems to efficiently communicate real-time information to enable swift decision-making, and is able to present drone history and playbacks for analysis purposes.

Hardkill

Due to rapidly-evolving drone engineering, it is important to ensure that anti-drone solutions continue to grow so as to effectively address drone threats. TRD fully highlighted the extensive scope of our R&D team, including testing a comprehensive array of over 20 drones, from hacked DJI drones to DIY drones with anti-jamming technology, and even mil-grade drones and unmanned surface vessels (USV). But there will never be a silver bullet for drone threats – even advanced softkill solutions will soon require a hardkill complement for full spectrum anti-drone solutions. As such, TRD demonstrated the use of a man-portable Laser to address drone threats, and invited guests were able to witness not only the capabilities of a Laser, but its limitations as well, emphasising the importance of context when developing counter-drone capabilities.

TRD Singapore is appreciative of all our customers and partners from Colombia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Singapore, Sweden, Middle East, Taiwan as well as potential investors, banks, and more, for joining us to learn more about the Counter-UAS industry.

“The Adhoc Army Air Defence Directorate extends its compliments to your esteemed office and expresses gratitude for the invitation to participate in the 2nd Annual Counter Drone Workshop and Live Demonstration, ORION Summit 2024 held in Bangkok, Thailand. During the summit, the team gained valuable hands-on experience with a variety of Counter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (C-UAV) systems. Following the event, the feedback from the team highlighted that TRD offers an Integrated C-UAV system, which includes radar, detection systems, jammers (both omnidirectional and bi-directional), spoofers and laser weapon systems. Additionally, we noted the availability of handheld and backpack variants of equipment that were demonstrated.” – Bangladesh Army

Seeing is believing. See you in ORION SUMMIT 2025! By invitation only.
