The organizers of the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 announced that Russia will present the amphibious BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and the RB-504P-E anti-UAV system.
The defense expo will take place from 19th till 22nd December at Gia Lam airport in Hanoi.
Russia positions the BMP-3 as a combat-proven combat vehicle that can be used as an IFV, tank destroyer, amphibious transporter and fire support vehicle. The IFV’s armament includes a 100 mm gun-launcher (which can fire anti-tank missiles), 30 mm automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun in a single unit, as well as two machine guns in autonomous mounts in the front of the hull.
The latest version of BMP-3 with improved mobility and security characteristics was showcased at ARMY-2024 expo in Russia this August. It included armored and lattice screens, an upper hemisphere protection kit, and a so-called anti-drone brazier capable of withstanding UAV attacks.
The BMP-3 is said to receive special capabilities when equipped with robotic equipment. In this case, the vehicle can operate normally under the control of the crew, remotely – from a remote control, and automatically.
In South-East Asia the Marine Corps of Indonesia is a well-known successful operator of the BMP-3F IFV.
RB-504P-E anti-drone system is designed for detection and radio-electronic influence on the control and data transmission channels of UAVs and their on-board receivers of satellite radio navigation systems. The system is said to be capable of carrying out both sectoral and omnidirectional electronic suppression to counter both single UAVs and their swarm.
Recently it was officially announced, that more than ten countries from various regions of the world were paying interest to the new Russian anti-UAV system.
