During this biennial exhibition, the countermeasures specialist for air, land and naval systems will be focusing on:
- SYLENA MK2 decoy-launching system for optimal protection and adapted to modern vessel projects DCNS has sold its GOWIND® 2500 corvette design which concerns the design and production of six corvettes through a technology transfer in Malaysia to take place at the Boustead Naval Shipyard. - Its aircraft countermeasures utilizing spectral decoys, MTV, etc.- commonly known as chaff & flares – to protect aircraft, such as the Airbus A400; and other helicopters such as Malaysia’s Armed Force’s EC725 Cougar, as well as addressing the future countermeasures requirements for the Rafale fighter jet.
The growing need for ship self-protection in the age of sophisticated threats
For over 25 years, powerful calculation capabilities and the miniaturization of electronic components have driven unprecedented advances in missile and torpedo homing device technology, making them highly discriminant with respect to standard techniques employed by conventional countermeasures.
The latest generation of missile homing devices can instantaneously analyze the target’s spectral, spatial and temporal data and reject any radar echoes or infrared radiation that are not emitted by a ship’s signature. Most of the missiles today, and which are widespread, are equipped with ECCM (Electronic Counter-Countermeasures) capabilities that reject standard decoys employing metal strips (chaff) or infrared compositions, “hot spots”.
In the same way, standard countermeasures are systematically rejected by advanced torpedoes having longer ranges and a capacity to analyse the situation, etc.
In order to counter the latest threats, recent technological developments have significantly enhanced countermeasures’ credibility and effectiveness.
The Etienne Lacroix Group has developed and perfected a new generation of systems and countermeasures capable of defeating the latest threats:
- The Sylena MK2 decoy-launching range, a specially adapted system to countering anti-missile and / or anti-torpedo threats.
- The SEACLAD naval munitions range, in service with numerous navies abroad, in the most extreme environments from the cold to the warm seas.

With regard to the LCS program requirements, the SYLENA MK2 system offers an array of flexible and modular solutions capable of being integrated in the ship’s combat system (CMS: Combat Management System).

Providing the latest generation decoys to equip the Malaysian A 400M.
The Malaysian Royal Air Force sets itself on the cutting edge of innovation and requires the latest generation in equipment. It was therefore the first foreign country to order several Airbus A400Ms, the first of which was presented during the 2015 edition of the LIMA exhibition.
Backed by its contracts and research performed with the DGA (French defense procurement agency) and various industrial layers in the sector, including Airbus in this program, Lacroix is offering to supply the RMAF with the latest generation of spectral decoys, developed for this exceptional aircraft.
