Vladislav Masalov was appointed the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) President on February, 22 2017. He replaces Kamil Gainutdinov as head of the company with the latter to become SCAC Vice-President for the After Sales Support.
The management reshuffle was initiated by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) (SCAC being its affiliated company) as part of its corporate structure transformation launched in December 2016. The target model presupposes step-by-step change resulting in a single company integrating four divisions responsible for civil, military, cargo and special purpose aircraft.
Taking into consideration all mentioned above, UAC has started to form the civil division. UAC’s development strategy calls for 45% of its portfolio to be civil aircraft production, so civil aircraft positioning for foreign markets (considering the planned decrease in State Defense Procurement) becomes key priority.
The UAC Civil Division will manage all civil programs which are – SSJ100, MC-21, Il-114 and the long range wide body aircraft with Sales and MRO to be first and most important tasks.
Vladislav Masalov’s task is now to create a company (with SCAC as its core) integrating all the expertise and technology acquired during the leading Russian civil aircraft design and development process.
On the one hand, such approach allows to increase business operations efficiency at all stages of the aircraft life cycle and to cut expenses as the result of management centralization, including coordinated contract fulfillment as far as the new aircraft creation is concerned.
On the other hand, this new strategy will increase the manageability by the leading company – UAC – and will form ‘pass-through’ sales, certification and after-sales support functions concentrating at a single Customer Support Center for all civil programs.
Since October 2015 Vladislav Masalov has been Vice-President for Civil Aviation for UAC. In 2012 – 2015 he was President of the United Engine Corporation, one of its subdivisions participates it SSJ100 engine production. In 2010 – 2015 he was head of “Gas-Turbine Engineering RPC “Salut”, earlier, starting from 2009, he was Deputy Director for Finance and Economics in RPC “Saturn”. Before that held senior positions in a number of financial and bank structures. He graduated from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation with the degree in Banking and Finance.
The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) was established in 2006 to consolidate Russia’s main assets in aircraft design and production.
UAC is formed by the following design bureaus and manufacturing plants: Sukhoi Company, Irkut Corporation, UAC – Transport Aircraft, Ilyushin, Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft building Plant Sokol, Tupolev, Ilyushin Finance Company, Aviastar-SP, Voronezh Aircraft Building Company, Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, Myasishchev Design Bureau, Beriev Design Bureau, Aerocomposite, Gromov Flight Test Institute.
