The Republic of Korea’s Hanwha Techwin K-9 Thunder 155mm self-propelled howitzer has found additional customers in Europe.

On 6th February, Estonia announced that it would join Finland’s purchase of the K-9 adding an additional twelve examples to the latter’s July 2016 order.

The K-9 has a range of up to 40 kilometres (21.5 miles) and, via the use of digital fire controls, can be programmed to deliver three rounds so that all impact on the target simultaneously. The K-9 is typically employed with its accompanying K-10 ammunition supply vehicle. The numbers of K-9 and K-10 vehicles which are expected to be acquired by Finland has not been disclosed, although initial deliveries are expected to occur before the end of this year.
