Indonesia has chosen Naval Group and PT PAL to build two Scorpène® Evolved Full Lithium-Ion battery (LiB) submarines in Indonesia.

The partnership is part of the Defence Cooperation Agreement signed between France and Indonesia in August 2021.

The contract includes the delivery of the submarines and the reuse of 100% of PT PAL assets.

Naval Group is honoured to be part of this new chapter in the strategic alliance between Indonesia and France and supporting the Indonesian defense industry in preparing the future of naval warfare.

The partnership aims to strengthen the Indonesian naval and defence industry, ensuring the country’s autonomy and creating thousands of long-term high skills jobs.

The Scorpène® Evolved submarine is a modern, high-performant, and stealthy submarine designed for various missions, including anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, special operations, and intelligence gathering.

The submarine is equipped with the latest generation of combat system, SUBTICS®, addressing the growing challenges of modern submarine missions in blue and shallow waters.
