The organising committee of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) has announced the return of missile systems developer MBDA as ‘Gold Sponsor’ for the seventh edition of the eagerly awaited event.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and hosted and organised by Qatar Armed Forces, DIMDEX 2022 will take place between 21st to 23rd of March 2022 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Fittingly for an event of such global magnitude, DIMDEX 2022 will be held under the theme ‘Connecting the World’s Maritime Defence and Security Community.’

His Excellency Lieutenant General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Chief of Staff of Qatari Armed Forces, said: “Our steadfast commitment to the highest international standards of defence and security infrastructure has played a major role in Qatar’s inexorable march towards becoming the heart of global commerce and a hub for knowledge transfer amongst the industry. The interactive exchange of capacity-building and tactical positioning within the global defence industry aligns perfectly with our national strategic objectives.”

DIMDEX Chairman, Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, said: “DIMDEX and MBDA share an enduring and fruitful partnership, one that began with the inception of the event in 2008. It is a great honour for us to have the support of an industry leader, as an exhibitor and Gold Sponsor, for the seventh time in a row. Together, we will offer DIMDEX 2022 participants unparalleled business opportunities, as we have done in previous editions.”

A globally reputed developer and manufacturer of missile systems, MBDA is the only integrated defence company in Europe that provides missiles and missile systems for all three branches of the armed forces across air, sea and land. Known for its pathbreaking technological innovations and industry-leading product range, the European champion of missiles and missile systems has a global footprint that extends far beyond the continent. MBDA is a key partner to the Qatar Armed Forces and has played a significant part over the years in the awe-inspiring development of Qatar’s defence capabilities.

Mr. Bertrand Dumoulin, MBDA General Delegate for Qatar, said: “Over the past 45 years, the State of Qatar and MBDA have forged a strong and trusted partnership to provide the Qatar Armed Forces with the best technologies, products, training and support. As a reflection of this unique relationship, MBDA is honored to continue, for the seventh time in a row as a Gold Sponsor, an all-weather commitment towards DIMDEX and we look forward to another successful edition.”

A prominent fixture of the global defence and security industry, DIMDEX offers an internationally acclaimed platform for commerce as well as knowledge exchange at the highest level of industry leaders, government officials, chief executives, and other key decision makers. The three-day event, which will highlight the latest technologies and innovations in the maritime defence and security industry, will bring together large-scale showcases, an unprecedented number of exhibitors, and expert panels from around the world to further the avowed goal of strengthening the national defence system in line with Qatar’s overarching development objectives.

DIMDEX 2022 will serve to highlight the growing trend of interoperability across security and defense ecosystems, which is reflected in the event theme as well as in the wide range of exhibitors that are expected to participate. The event will also underscore the importance of international cooperation in restructuring defence systems to face future challenges in a rapidly changing military landscape.

MBDA’s return as ‘Gold Sponsor’ of DIMDEX 2022 and the growing list of sponsors for the event serve to highlight the continuing success the event has had in striking key sponsorship agreements with global industry players. The unrivalled global visibility that DIMDEX offers exhibitors was highlighted in a survey of exhibitors after the sixth edition, with an overwhelming majority of respondents saying that the exhibition added value to their business and helped achieve their commercial objectives. With global defence spending forecast to spike during the decade and the upcoming edition poised to be the biggest ever, the commercial scope for participants at DIMDEX 2022 is further amplified.

DIMDEX’s rapid growth since 2008 has seen the event evolve into an internationally acclaimed business and technology platform that promotes business collaborations and knowledge exchange at the highest levels of government and industry. With agreements over USD 32 billion signed at the event since its launch and more expected in the upcoming edition, DIMDEX is set to further consolidate its reputation as one of the most important events on the international defence and security industry calendar.
