The organising committee of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX) has announced the return of Fincantieri as Diamond Sponsor for DIMDEX 2022.
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, and proudly hosted and organised by Qatar Armed Forces, preparations continue apace for the seventh edition of the event that will take place from the 21st to 23rd of March 2022 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
In a welcome departure from the trend of virtual defence and security trade shows and exhibitions, DIMDEX 2022 will take place live and will bring together, under one roof, an unprecedented number of exhibitors, government officials and key decision-makers from the international defence and maritime security industry. As is apt for one of the most eagerly awaited events on the global maritime defence and security calendar, the theme of the seventh edition of DIMDEX is ‘Connecting the World’s Maritime Defence and Security Community.’
His Excellency Lieutenant General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, said: “Successes in strengthening our strategic relationship with leading industry players further fortify Qatar’s defence framework to fall in line with the national development objectives outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030. Such international cooperation is the cornerstone of success for our country’s leading defence and security industry.”
Commenting on the renewed sponsorship agreement, DIMDEX Chairman, Staff Brigadier (SEA) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, said: “Over the years, DIMDEX has proven to be an effective catalyst that advocates longstanding alliances between industry players, both at the national and international level. The continued support of Fincantieri, one of the world’s leading shipbuilders, adds immense value to DIMDEX and strengthens our resolve to facilitate further cooperation between leading companies and stakeholders in the field of maritime security and defence.”
With over 7,000 military and commercial vessels built and 18 shipyards across 4 continents, Fincantieri is one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups. The Italian company’s extensive global footprint and wide array of products are complemented by its unmatched experience in integrated logistic support services. A key partner in Qatar’s naval acquisition programme, the company offers innovative solutions and support services to the country’s flourishing defence and security sector. Qatar is also home to Fincantieri Services Middle East, a wholly owned subsidiary that seeks to expand the company’s footprint in the Middle East. The company’s continuous support of DIMDEX as Diamond Sponsor not only reflects its ever-evolving strategic ties with Qatar Armed Forces but is also indicative of the growing global stature of the event and the eagerness of major industry players to be associated with it.
Mr. Achille Fulfaro, Senior Vice President Sales and Commercial Director of Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division, stated: “In a global situation as complex as the current one, events such as DIMDEX are extremely important for the entire cluster and stand out even more significantly. Therefore, we are particularly pleased to confirm our role as Diamond sponsor, playing an active role in the growth of the international defence and security community.”
DIMDEX 2022 has already attracted a sizable number of sponsors, largely in virtue of the number of agreements and MoUs signed during previous editions and the event’s growing international reputation as a platform that offers government-to-government, business-to-government and business-to-business commercial opportunities. As the Diamond Sponsor of DIMDEX 2022, Fincantieri will be able to draw global attention to the latest security and defence innovations and support services that it will showcase at the event.
The upcoming edition of DIMDEX will be unprecedented, both in terms of the number of companies exhibiting as well as the number of participants. The exhibitor list will consist of warship constructors, manufacturers and suppliers of onboard systems and ancillary equipment, as well as companies dealing in critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity and C5iSR systems. A large number of industry leaders, government officials, chief executives and key decision makers are expected to attend what is now regarded as a must-attend event on the international defence and security industry calendar.
