Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced on 29 September that it has ordered Orbital ATK’ Mk44 30mm Bushmaster II autocannon to arm its latest Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
The CM-32 Clouded Leopard 8 X 8 was developed by the of the Ordnance Readiness Development Center. The Mk 44 will be fit to a Center designed remote weapon station with a 7.62 mm coaxial machinegun.
The US$112 million contract calls for 285 cannons plus additional support with initial deliveries expected to support the first CM-32 production scheduled for the end of 2017. The Clouded Leopard will be fielded in a number of mission variants in a major armoured force modernization.
